i often find myself studying adults. analyzing their clothes their bodies their faces and their personalities. as i observe i try to imagine who they were as a teenager. were they the loner stoner the jock the popular cheerleader or the girl who cried in the bathroom at lunch. maybe they were that one guy who was with a different girl every week or the one who ended up with his high school sweetheart. perhaps the one who always made honor roll or the one who simply stayed home on friday nights. sometimes it is easy to guess who is who but that is all it is; a guess. i do not know who they really were and when i am an adult will anyone know who I really was? who you are in high school is somewhat irrelevant. many of us will look back and remember how awkward we were and how we really were never as cool as we once though. it is who you become after high school and what you choose to do with this life that you have so graciously been given that really matters.
